Ron Smith

Former Poet Laureate of Virginia, Ron Smith is the author of four books, three of them from LSU Press. His most recent books are The Humility of the Brutes and a second edition of his first book, Running Again in Hollywood Cemetery; the first edition of Running Again was judged by Margaret Atwood "a close runner-up" for the National Poetry Series Open Competition. Smith has taught poetry and poetry writing at University of Richmond, Virginia Commonwealth University, and Mary Washington University. He has presented his work to Hemingway scholars on the Eiffel Tower, as well as to audiences at George Washington’s Mount Vernon, and the American Ambassador’s official residence in Rome. Currently, he is Writer-in-Residence at St. Christopher’s School in Richmond, VA.
