Richie Innocent

A humble Rastafarian poet who is also a trained youth advocate, Richie Innocent was born Richard Robinson in Kingston, Jamaica, in 1973. He lived in several inner-city communities before moving to Santa Cruz, St. Elizabeth in 1986. He excelled in sports and music in high school. In 1992 he won the JCDC Pop and Variety Competition as the best Deejay in the parish of St. Elizabeth. He made his recording debut in 1995 with a song titled "Whoe Whoe" on the Roof Recording label. He has delivered memorable performances at several major events such as GT's Christmas Extravaganza, the IRIE FM Marcus Garvey Celebrations, the Jamaica Poetry Festival, Dis Poem Words and Agro Fest, culminating in the 2018 IRAWMA Awards which is held annually in Chicago, where he was nominated in the category of the Best Spoken Word Artiste/Dub Poet of the Year, televised on NBC.
